How much does a website cost in the Netherlands?

Prices in euro, and the three things Dutch businesses should check before they sign: VAT on the quote, what your website must show and cookie consent.

The short answer

From €739 for a small business site

For a small business in the Netherlands, a website of up to 5 pages on a premium WordPress theme starts at €739 with us and takes about 15 days. A custom-coded site of up to 8 pages, built in Astro, Next.js or React, starts at €1,850 and takes about 4 weeks. Fixing an existing site starts at €229, and looking after it costs €45 a month. Before you compare quotes, check whether each one includes VAT at 21%.

In the Netherlands

Three things to check in the Netherlands

Checked against the official pages. Ask about each one before you sign anything.

  1. §1

VAT at 21%: included or on top?

The standard VAT (btw) rate in the Netherlands is 21%. A business in the small businesses scheme (KOR), open to a turnover of at most €20,000 a calendar year, does not charge VAT at all. So two quotes for the same site can differ by 21% for that reason alone. Ask every studio whether its price includes VAT before you compare.

  2. §2

    What your website must show

Your website must make clear who visitors are dealing with, for example by showing your KVK number and your visiting address. Ask where the new site shows these, usually in the footer and on the contact page, and check them against your KVK registration before the site goes live.

  3. §3

    Cookie consent before tracking

Tracking cookies may only be set after a visitor has actively said yes. Pre-ticked boxes do not count, and neither does carrying on browsing after a banner. Functional cookies and analytical cookies with little or no impact on privacy need no consent, but visitors must still be told about them. Ask how the new site handles this: a banner with a real choice, and no tracking before the yes.

What moves the price

Six things that decide the cost

Storvexa Your quote, line by line

  1. 01

    Pages and content

Five pages cost less than twenty. Writing the copy, finding photos and moving content from an old site all take time, so say up front who supplies them.

  2. 02

    Theme or custom code

A premium WordPress theme is the quickest and cheapest route. A site written in our own code costs more, loads faster and has no page-builder plugins to keep updating.

  3. 03

What the site has to do

A contact form is simple. Online booking, payments, client logins or a shop each add work, because each has to be built, tested and kept safe.

  4. 04

    Languages and markets

Every extra language means translated pages and its own search setup. Prices in more than one currency add a little more.

  5. 05

    Connections to your tools

Linking the site to a CRM, a booking calendar, an accounting tool or a payment provider is quoted per connection, after we have seen what the tool allows.

  6. 06

    Speed and search work

Basic Google setup comes with every site. Full on-page SEO, a Google Business Profile and analytics come with the custom-coded package.

The costs people forget

  1. §1

    Domain and hosting

They are paid to the provider every year. We set the site up on your own domain and hosting with free SSL, so the accounts stay in your name.

  2. §2

    Changes after launch

Ask how long changes stay free. With us it is 6 days for a Basic site and 30 days for a custom-coded one; after that, small changes are part of the care plan.

  3. §3

    Keeping it safe

Updates, backups and security checks never stop. Our care plan covers them for €45 a month, with one hour of small changes, and you can cancel any time.

  4. §4

    Words and pictures

If nobody has written the pages yet, someone has to. Agree before the start who writes them and who pays for photos.

Questions Dutch businesses ask

Before they ask anyone for a quote.

Ask us anything else

With us, a 5-page WordPress site starts at the Basic Website price and a custom-coded site at the Business Website price, both shown in euro on this page. Other studios price differently, so compare what each quote includes, and whether VAT is included.

Yes, the site can be in Dutch, in English or in both. Our calls, emails and support are in English, so the Dutch text comes from you or a translator you choose, and we build it in. Tell us which languages you need when you ask for a quote, so they are in the written quote from the start.

Yes. We are a remote studio working with clients worldwide, and we talk, write and give support in English. You get a first reply within one working day, prices in euro and a written quote before any work starts.

You do. The domain and hosting are registered in your name. After the final payment you have full admin access on WordPress, or the full source code on your own Git account for a custom-coded site.

In three steps tied to work you can see: 25% to start, 25% when half the work is done and 50% when the site is complete.
