Website not getting enquiries? Seven causes and how to check each one
People find your site and leave without calling or filling in the form. It is almost always one of seven things, and most of them take minutes to spot.
The short answer
Seven things decide whether a visit becomes an enquiry
A small business website that gets visits but no enquiries usually fails on one of seven things: getting in touch in one tap, speed on a phone, a layout made for phones, Google basics, a security warning, a form that goes nowhere, or no reason to choose you. Our free audit checks the first five in about 30 seconds. The last two you can test yourself in five minutes, and this page shows how.

Seven causes
Why visitors leave without getting in touch
-
01/07
Nobody can reach you in one tap
On a phone, people call, message or tap a button. A number shown as an image, a form at the bottom of one page, or no call button at all sends them back to Google, where the next business is one tap away.
Check it nowOpen your site on your phone and try to call you from the first screen, without scrolling.

It is slow on a phone
A page that takes several seconds to show anything loses people before they read a word. Heavy photos, too many plugins and slow hosting are the usual reasons.
Check it nowOpen your home page on your phone over mobile data, not Wi-Fi, and count until you can read it.

It was made for a desktop screen
Tiny text, buttons too close together and pages that scroll sideways make people pinch and zoom, then give up. Many visitors will only ever see your site on a phone.
Check it nowRead your services page on your phone without zooming in. If you have to zoom, so does every visitor.

Google cannot tell what the page is for
A missing or vague page title, no description, several main headings or none, and images without descriptions make it hard for Google to show the page for the searches that bring buyers.

The browser says "Not secure"
Without HTTPS, browsers warn people before they type into your form. Few people send their name and number to a page that says it is not safe.
Check it nowLook at the address bar on your site. A padlock or "https://" is good; "Not secure" needs fixing today.

The form goes nowhere
The form says "thank you", but the email lands in spam, in an old inbox nobody reads, or nowhere at all. This one is common and invisible: everything looks fine from the outside.
Check it nowSend yourself a test enquiry from your phone. Note where it arrives and how long it takes.

Nothing tells them why you
No prices or "from" prices, no real photos of your work, no reviews, no list of the areas you cover, and no clear next step. People compare three sites and contact the one that answers their questions.
Check it nowAsk a friend to find, in ten seconds, what you do, where, roughly what it costs and how to book.
