§1
Free, publicly funded advice from the Growth Hub
The GM Business Growth Hub says it is publicly funded and that its support for Greater Manchester businesses comes at no charge. It does not build websites, but an adviser can help you set goals and a budget before you ask studios for quotes. Ask what is available for your business and check what is open at the time.

§2
Scale-up programmes have turnover thresholds
The Hub has run Spark to Scale for businesses turning over £120k or more and ASCEND for those with £1M or more turnover. If your website is part of a bigger growth plan, check whether a programme is open, whether you qualify and what it covers before you plan your budget around it.

Online-shop compliance help from your councils
Greater Manchester Business Compliance Support represents the ten Greater Manchester councils and works alongside their trading standards teams. It offers a free signposting service and advice packages charged at cost only. Its online sales guidance covers the pre-contract information, the 14-day cancellation period and the ban on pre-ticked boxes. Before a shop goes live, ask your builder where each of these will appear, then check with the service if you are unsure.

Look for funding through the finder, not a website grant
Salford City Council's funding page (last updated 1 October 2025) lists GC Business Finance, the Growth Hub's Business Support and Funding Finder and the GOV.UK finance and support finder. None of them is described as a grant for websites. If a supplier tells you a grant will pay for your site, ask for the scheme's name and check its rules and closing date on the official page.

Free tools for running the site after launch
The Growth Hub's digital tools include the GM Skills Map, which lists more than 1,700 training courses for individuals and companies across Greater Manchester, and a Business Support and Funding Finder. If you plan to update your own pages or run your own marketing, check the Skills Map for a course before launch, and ask your builder for a handover session that fits it.

What moves the price
Six things that decide the cost
Storvexa Your quote, line by line
-
01
Pages and content
Five pages cost less than twenty. Writing the copy, finding photos and moving content from an old site all take time, so say up front who supplies them.
-
02
Theme or custom code
A premium WordPress theme is the quickest and cheapest route. A site written in our own code costs more, loads faster and has no page-builder plugins to keep updating.
-
03
What the site has to do
A contact form is simple. Online booking, payments, client logins or a shop each add work, because each has to be built, tested and kept safe.
-
04
Languages and markets
Every extra language means translated pages and its own search setup. Prices in more than one currency add a little more.
-
05
Connections to your tools
Linking the site to a CRM, a booking calendar, an accounting tool or a payment provider is quoted per connection, after we have seen what the tool allows.
-
06
Speed and search work
Basic Google setup comes with every site. Full on-page SEO, a Google Business Profile and analytics come with the custom-coded package.
